#26 “True Prayer and Intercession Requires Unity”

“Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to them,
“Any kingdom divided against itself is bound to collapse,
and no town or household divided against itself can last for long.”
(John 14:12-14)
New King James Version (NKJV)

Last night marked the conclusion of the Presidential Election, let us will never see the conclusion of our intercession for our President and this nation. Our work as children or God and intercessors has just received a new dose of adrenalin to carry us through the next four years. Beloved, let us not forget that ill regardless of our political affiliations we are first and far most ambassadors of the Kingdom of Heaven here on assignment, on behalf of God our Heavenly Father. Pray for this nation and its leaders, that the will of the Father can be evoked in their lives and decision making over the next four years. Let us count no victories won, but those won for the Kingdom sake, all else are but momentary and for a season.

These election years always remind me to the time “ Jesus over heard His disciples auguring over, which one of them would be the greatest." Who’s political party is the best or the richest or smarts, everybody thinking they have the magic answer or solution to fix everything that’s broken. And then you have those who will sneak off secretly and try to get promoted without others knowing like, “James and John, the sons of Zebedee, had came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.” And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.” (Mark 10:35-39) Some of them are willing to pay a lot of money to get it; but Jesus simply said, “But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.”(Mark 10: 38-40) How many times have we heard that “I can get us out of this mess,” only to find out they couldn’t?  It’s that same old song, “Standing on the outside looking,” and from out there everything looks simple and we can’t imagine, why they don’t see it, and haven’t fixed it already? But once on the inside they find out the it's not as simple as it sees, because the house are divided and want work together.

Then the real trouble starts when, others hear that you’ve been secretly trying to get ahead of the group. It doesn’t matter if it’s a political campaign or a position on the job or in the church even. People don’t like it when others are caught being underhanded. “And when the ten heard it, they began to be greatly displeased with James and John.” Here’s what I would like to concluded this post with: “But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10: 41-45)

What the Lord was trying to get them to see was that they had a job to do and there was plenty work to go around, no one needed to worry about not getting enough work to do or enough recognition for the job. He wanted them to see that the true importance wasn’t on the job or how important it was; but rather how well they served the people under their care. We can’t allow ourselves to become so onesided that we forget that we’re are all in this together. Unless we work together we will continue to struggle, for “WE ARE THE PEOPLE” of the United States of America, not a political party but a unified body of believers. Therefore let Him who serves well and is the desires to be servant of all (the people) then he will become the greatest.

My Prayer: Heavenly Father at the conclusion of yet another presidential election we ask that we now set aside our differences and come together in unity, one voice and one heart... to see Your will done in this nation we love so dearly. Father we continue our petitions to You on behalf of America, Father she is like a wife playing the harlot with every abominable lover she can find, but just as You turn the hearts of Kings, so too can You turn America's heart back to You. We pray for Godly leaders to lead this great country of ours, men who like King David are "men after Your own heart." Stop the bickering and fighting between us and bring us back to Loving our fellow man. Let's us never cease to remember what the You said in Matthew 12:25 - "Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand." This has been the voice of reason through the history of America and should always be. We pray for an end of division and strife in our government and houses of representative; turn their hearts that they will once again work together for the common good of this nation and her people and for our God. We ask all these things in the name of Your precious Son Jesus Christ, Amen!

Have A Blessed Day…go in God’s Peace!
