#29 “Intercessors: Planted In The Word”
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates
day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall
not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall
not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
(Psalms 1:1-3)
New International Version (NIV)
When talking about cultivating the faith of God, we’ve covered the importance of believing in your heart what you speak from your mouth. It is by our faith which we confess that we are saved, likewise it is by our faith that we are given those thing we pray for. One of the greatest challenges to our faith is not the enemy but we, ourselves. Why is this? All too often we pray with such intensity about a matter only to turn around and the contradict what we have just prayed. Remember that it is by our faith that we have what we say; therefore, we must be ever so careful about what comes out of our mouths. We can’t say that we believe God for the salvation of our son or daughter and then turn right around and start declaring negatively about their lifestyle. Either you believe that God will save and deliver them or you don’t, there’s not startling the fence. Either you believe that God is going to heal, deliver and set free or you don’t. God like faith sees the solution before its manifested. You have to see that thing happening, see that child set free, delivered and made whole, then you will have it.
Our scripture passage say, “blessed is the person who trust in the Lord, he shall be like a tree planted rivers of water, that bring forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” When we walk in the God Kind of Faith, we will have confidence that what we speak will come to pass, therefore we have no reason not to trust God. Thus we put our complete, total trust in His word, then we will be, “ like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season,” unlike the fig tree in yesterdays lesson who was clearly not planted by a river of water, because it did not bring forth its fruit in the season. What does the scripture mean by “river of water?” In the word of God when you see the water it often times symbolizes “The Word of God.” Ephesians 5:27 says, “Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish”
Here in this passage we have another tree, which I suppose could represent two types of Christians the first looked the part dressed the part and from a far off could not be distinguished from the fruitful and productive Christian; that is until you got up close and realized there was not fruits of the spirit on it. This tree was also planted by the wayside, perhaps this is one of the reasons there was not edible fruit there, due to no valid water source. The second one we find planted by the (river) steams of water and it not only has fruit but it’s leaves will not wither because its being nourished from the rich soil and ample water supply. When we as Christians find ourselves away for a valid stream of water (daily study of God word) we become barren and incapable of producing that will nourish and sustain ourselves and others. On the other hand, when we stay in the Word of God and “study to show ourselves approved unto God,” We will a healthy fruit barring tree before the Lord fit for anyone to satisfy their hunger from.
When we are planted by the word, we receive all the nutrients we need to reap a bountiful harvest. We will have boldness and confidence to say what God says and stand on it until we see it manifested before our eyes. When we go through trials and tribulation we sometimes become embarrassed think what will people think because I’m supposed to be this great intercessor? If that is true then why am I going through this? Jesus said, “in the world you will have trouble but be of good courage for I have overcome the world.” If you are believing God to bring you out and supply all your needs by His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus” then no matter how bad it gets or looks, hold on to God’s unchanging hand!! King Solomon said, “Never have I seen the righteous forsaken not their seed beg for bread.”
My Prayer: Father, thank you for your graciousness and mercifulness. Thank you that we long to be like David in the Psalms 1: 1-3 we want to walk in the God kind of faith, live in the God kind of Faith, we want to be confident in the God kind of Faith knowing that whatever we say according to your word, You will hear us and answer. Father, help us not to be the fig tree which had no evidence of fruitfulness and was cursed by You. We want to be planted in your word and have our roots grown down deep in Your word. Lord Jesus give us clear direction as to how to help others become strong and fruitful. We thank you that as we share our fruit with others they too will grow up strong and nourished. These things we ask in Jesus name, Amen!!
Have A Bless Day…go in God’s Peace!
