#76 “Understanding the Power in the Name of Jesus”
(Call on His Name ‘Jesus’
Name’)
“And that “whoever” means anyone, without
distinction between Jew or Greek.
For all have the same Lord, whose boundless resources are
available to all who turn to
Him in faith. For: Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved!”
[Romans 10:12-13]
J.B.
Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)
Have you ever been a situation when you’re had to call on
the name of Jesus? I mean a time when you knew that if He didn’t intervene you
would not survive? The word of God says,
“Whoever calls
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!” As you recall we have
covered in great length the importance of calling upon the name of Jesus. He will
be what you need Him to be at the moment you need Him. It seems that for us the children of God to
call on the name of Jesus becomes second nature sometimes, we instinctively
call His name when we in trouble or afraid. The book of Proverbs puts it like
this, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the
righteous run to it and are safe.”
This reminds me of a song that I truly love which I haven’t heard in
quite some time called:
“I Go To The Rock”
Where do I go when there's nobody else to
turn to?
Who do I talk to when nobody wants to listen?
Who do I lean on when there's no foundation stable?
I go to The Rock, I know He's able I go to The Rock
Who do I talk to when nobody wants to listen?
Who do I lean on when there's no foundation stable?
I go to The Rock, I know He's able I go to The Rock
I go to The Rock for my salvation; I go to the stone that the
builders rejected.
I run to the mountain and the Mountain
stands by me,
When the earth all around me is sinking sand,
On Christ, the solid rock I stand when I need a shelter,
On Christ, the solid rock I stand when I need a shelter,
when I
need a friend I go to The Rock
Where do I go, When the storms of life are threatening?
Who do I turn to when those winds of sorrow blow?
And is there a refuge in the time of tribulation?
I go to The Rock; I know He's able, I go to The Rock.
Where do I go, When the storms of life are threatening?
Who do I turn to when those winds of sorrow blow?
And is there a refuge in the time of tribulation?
I go to The Rock; I know He's able, I go to The Rock.
I can count the number of times I’ve had to call on the
name of the Lord; during a time of sudden distress or emergency. One I was
coming home for work, it was around 5 pm and the traffic was heavy as usual
however this day it was raining as well. I was driving in the far right hand
lane traveling east on a four lane expressway. All of a sudden I felt my car
start to skid or hydroplane out of control, I had never had this happen before
and I was terrified. The more I tried to gain control of the car the more it
slid on the slick road beneath it. Then before I knew it I heard myself yell
out “JESUS!” just as the car start hydroplaning across the three lanes to my
left. It seemed to happen so quickly that all I could say was “JESUS!” the next
thing I knew my car was on the far left side of the expressway and the bumper
of my car gently bumped the medium wall and slid ever so slightly to a stop. Stunned
I sit there for a second and then looked up in the rear view mirror to see a
yellow school bus immediately behind me and all the traffic in four lanes
stopped behind the bus driver jumped out
of the car and ran to check on me, “Are you alright?” ‘He said’ “yes just shaken
up, I said. Eventually I regain my
composure and was able to get back into traffic. Now mind you when my car started to hydroplane
the traffic was thick. Only the Lord could have cleared those lanes and stopped
that traffic like He did with not collisions or fatalities. To be honest I have no doubt that Satan intended
to take me out that day. But thanks be
to God that, “the
name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run unto it and are saved.”
I called on the name of the Lord and He saved me from sudden destruction.
Beloved, if you walk away with anything for these lessons let it be this; the name of the Lord Jesus is the key that unlocks heaven provision here on earth. "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:19) We have a covenant right to call on the name of the Lord and because of that covenant He will answer us. Our covenant relationship with Jesus gives us the right to act as His agents in this earth. There is no reason that we should doubt that He hears us and will answer us. It’s not enough for us to know this we must believe it and act upon it as well. Regardless you what your need is, just call upon the Name of Jesus to help in your time of need. You see I need Him to be a miracle worker that day on the expressway, because I needed one and He was just that. We covered some of the attributes of Jesus but look up some of the others. Learn them and use them whenever you have a need only He can fulfill. We have been given delegated authority to use the name of Jesus so pray to the Father and He will manifest His glory and power in your life and those your pray for.
My Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank for teaching us that
the name of Jesus is our strong tower that we can run to and be saved. We know
that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus as Lord soon. We now
understand that anything we ask You in Jesus name Father You will give it to
us. Holy Spirit help us to pray correctly in Jesus’ name and according to the
will of the Father. Lord we long for the
day when all men know that there is not other name given unto man by which we
must be saved. That the day will come when mankind will put away their idols
and worship You Lord alone. Thank You
for empowering Your church to carry this gospel to the ends of the earth in
Jesus name we pray, Amen!
Have A Bless Day…Go in God’s Peace!
