#85 “Now You're A Person of Prayer Too”

“If My people, who are called by My name,

would humble themselves and pray…”

Whether we like it or not everything that has a beginning also has an end, and so too does this series on “Understanding the Purpose and Power of Prayer”, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Myles Munroe for this amazing book. I truly believe that a good teacher always learns right along with their students; because, each time we open up the word of God we learn something new and exciting. I believe Hebrews 4:12 says it best, “The word of God is living and active. It is sharper than any sword that has two edges. It cuts deep enough to separate soul from spirit. It can separate joints from bones. It judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart.”Whenever we take the word of God in our hands it’s like picking up a double edge sword…it cuts both ways coming and going. 

Although this series is ending we will begin a new on next week which I hope will take us even deeper into prayer and intercession and what it means pray in agreement with heaven. So what exactly is a person of prayer?

• Someone who knows the sacredness of prayer and that they have been in trusted by God to pray His will in the earth.
• They must fully understand what their purpose is here on earth as priest and intercessor’s of God to this world.
• They must themselves have a trusting relationship with Father God and long to see others know and experience the power and presence or God for themselves.
• They must understand that as they align themselves with the will of heaven; it will allow the will of the Father to flow into earth from heaven because of their prayers.

It is my hope that you now know and understand the plans of God regarding prayer; but you must pursue God’s plan regarding prayer. According to James 1:22-25 when we know the plan of God regarding prayer and don’t act upon it; we are likened to “a person who beholds their reflection in a mirror, and turns to walk away and forgets immediately what they looked like.” Therefore we must not forget what we have learned once these lessons are concluded. At that point it will be time to implement what has been learned. Put it into action!!

Now you are a partner with God in the great redemption plan of reclaiming this world. “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14) we have now become God’s priests and intercessors in the earth. Many people think that only a special group of people are suppose to be intercessors; but on the contrary all of the body of Christ should be intercessors. Moses was an intercessor, Abraham was an intercessor and Jesus was and still is an intercessor; so too we are suppose to be intercessors in the earth. Each of us have a role to play in bringing the will of God into this earth. 

Keep in mind the when we pray we give heaven an earthly license to intervene in earthly affairs; when we agree with God’s will for the earth and mankind. Therefore we must us our authority in prayer to agree with Heavens plans and purposes, otherwise heaven can not intervene.  “Thy kingdom come Thy will be done in earth even as it is in heaven.”  All creation is waiting and depending upon us to pray the will of God into this earth realm. Heaven is depending upon us to pray! Each of us must fulfill our obligation to his or her generation through prayer. What kind of earth are you preparing for the generations which will come after you? What you decree is what will be manifested upon the earth…so what are you praying for?

My Prayer: Father God, thank you for teaching us to pray and understand the importance of prayer here on earth and in the lives of men and women everywhere. Help us to be wise stewards of Your word; we want to be doers of the word not only hearers, who don’t respond to what they hear. We pray to clear understand and direction, help us to walk in what we have learned and to teach others what we have learned that they may grow thereby. As we continue our study of prayer release fresh revelation and understanding to each of us on a daily bases. Give us the wisdom to change the course of earth according to Your Will. These things we ask in Jesus Name Amen!!!
