Humble,
Asked for or Prayed for) Pt.3
“The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias!" He
said, "Behold, it's me, Lord."
The Lord said to him, "Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight,
and inquire in the house of Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus.”
The Lord said to him, "Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight,

How we
see Paul the intercessor: who would have believed that this persecutor of the
church would be interceding for their salvation? Although Paul prayed for the
people in each one of the places he visited, we do not adequately think of Paul
as an intercessor. Yet He sought after and obtained, through prayer and supplication,
divine power and authority. This same authority and power was upon not only Paul’s
life; but also on the churches, which he founded everywhere he traveled.
Several of Paul's prayers of intercession are recorded in
the New Testament. In Philippians, Paul prayed: "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in
knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best
and may be pure and blameless until the day of
Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ
- to the glory and praise of God." (Philippians
1:9-11)
In Ephesus he prayed: “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” (Ephesians 3:14-20)
In Colossian he prayed: “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:9-14)
Who could have imagined that one so great would have come
for their intercession, Stephen could only hope that someone in that crowd that
day would have heard and believed. So too, do we hope as we intercede for men
and women everywhere; that even one would turn from their sinful ways, repent
and be saved. For this and this alone we are compelled to press on in prayer
and intercession.
My
Prayer: Lord God, we are so humbled by the story of Saul of Tarsus and how even
in his rage against the church You turned him and brought him to repentance,
calling Him to a divine calling... and what a calling it was. As we lift up men
and women everywhere we don’t know if there is another Paul and Ananias or even
another Peter, John or even Judas Iscariot. But what we do know is You Lord God
know all. So use us as You will guide
and instruct us as we pray for the lost, sick and hurting. Rise up men and
women everywhere to proclaim Your Glorious Gospel throughout this earth…in Jesus’
precious name we pray, Amen!!!
