#27 “A Royal Priesthood of Intercessors”

You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house
to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God
through Jesus Christ…But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises
of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
(1 Peter 2:5, 9)
New International Version (NIV)

How difficult it is for us to see ourselves as God sees us through the blood of Christ. “You are a chosen generation a royal priesthood, a holy nation of people who belongs to the Lord God.” Oh we have not trouble believing that we belong to God, it’s just that “Holy” part and the “Royal Priesthood” part that we just can’t wrap our minds around. As intercessors we have to understand that we have been chosen by God to declare His Name, Work, and Sovereignty in this earth through prayer. Understand that Jesus Christ is our great High Priest, and has made us a kingdom of priest, “If you will listen obediently to what I say and keep my covenant, out of all peoples you’ll be my special treasure. The whole Earth is mine to choose from, but you’re special: a kingdom of priests, a holy nation.”

We have been given the responsibility to take our position of authority, which the name of Jesus gives us, when we do the kingdom of darkness will respond to the power and authority of Jesus Name; for they know that He is Lord of all. Then the question is, do we know that he is Lord of lords and King of kings? As the holy priesthood of God we should not live our lives downtrodden, defeated, and discouraged and disheartened, as a result of our trials and tribulations. Knowing that we are heirs of God joint heirs with Jesus Christ, should give us confidence in who we are and what we are called to accomplish in this earth. As part of the priesthood of Christ we are to take part in His ministry of intercession. When we pray for the nations we set ourselves in alignment with the heart of God that all men come to Him and be saved. We should pray according to Ephesians 1:18-21 – “That the eyes of their understanding[a] being enlightened; that they may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward those who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come."

As part of the royal priesthood we must at all times be prepared to enter the presence of God. Just as the Levitical priest had to remain ready to enter God’s presence, we to must remain in a state of readiness for prayer. We must not come before God, just any kind of way; we must learn what it means to honor the Lord and reflect His Holy nature and character in our lives. We must understand how the grace of God works, while not taking it for granted. King David said, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me”(Psalm 51:10) David understood that although man looks at the outward appearance; God sees the heart of man. Also in the book of Psalms the 24: 3 – 5 it says, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy place? He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up His soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully! He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness for the God of His salvation.” As priest we must put on Righteousness according to Ephesians 6:11-20 we must put on the full armor of God. We must put on truth and honesty. We must be cleanse by the word of God, this is a daily process, this is why we should spend time in the word of God daily. We should worship and give God praise, for what He has already done, what He is now doing and what He will do in the future. We must separate ourselves to allow time to hear what He wants to say. We must not be distracted by TV or radio or even people talking to us. We must take our prayer and devotion time serious and do what it takes to be ready to meet God each day.

My Prayer: Father Your word says, "We are a living stone, which is being built into a spiritual house intended to a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to You through Jesus Christ. We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people that belong to You, that we might declare the praises of the One who has called us out of darkness into this wonderful light. Our prayer today is this; help us to embrace the call on our lives to declare the works of the Lord God in this earth. That the nations will know that You are God alone!! Help us to understand that it is not by our righteous but because of the Blood of Jesus Christ, which makes us Righteous, made us a holy priesthood that makes us a holy nation that belongs to you!. Gives us the boldness to speak Your word to those who are searching for answers, that are in need of Hope of a better way. Open our eye to see Jesus not the man, but the Savior of the World, and receive the finished work of the cross! Father draw all nations all men to You. Father if they cannot come to where we are, then send us to where they are, until all the earth knows that "YOU ARE GOD!" We ask these things in Jesus' Name, Amen!

Have A Blessed Day...go in God's Peace!
