#30 “Intercessors: Learning to Live in Reality”
“And the scripture says:”Whoever believes on him will not be put to shame”.
And that “whoever” means anyone, without distinction between Jew or Greek.
For all have the same Lord, whose boundless resources are available to all
who turn to him in faith. For:“Whoever calls upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved.”
(Romans 10:110-13)
J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)
So lets talk about how one can continue believing the word. In the last two teachings we talked about “Cultivating the God Kind of Faith and Being Planted in the Word.” Just seeing these two topic makes me think of gardening which by the way I’m terrible at; but I do have one very blessed and forgiving Peace Lilly. And I do mean “Blessed” because if it weren’t I would not have this plant. I can’t even begin to count the number of times; I’ve forgotten to water this poor plant. Nevertheless, each time I give it water it springs back to life. Once I went to visit my mother and forgot to water it and when I returned home there were noting but stems and a few wimpy leaves left on it. I just knew I had once and for all killed it; but in spite what it looked like I still gave it water and some extra TLC. Within a month or two it was looking full and green again; I was amazed because that had to be God restoring life to this little plant.
We too are just like plants, and when we are deprived of water, we begin to whether up and die. The good news is that once we are given the water we so desperately need to survive we perk right back up again- becoming full and health again. In fact you would think that being deprived of life giving water (word), would stunt our growth; however, like my little plant, once we are restored to healthiness we will begin to produce again. I’m always amazed that this little plant still blooms once or twice per year. This is much like the two trees in our previous two teachings; one was planted by the wayside, while the other was planted by the streams of water (word). Based on where they were planted they both produced different results in their season of harvest. We too will produce a different kind of results when we are not planted by a consistent stream of water (word), to give us nourishment.
So how does one live in “reality” and what does this mean? Some of the prayers you have prayed may have still not manifested. It’s not because something is wrong; rather because it’s not their season. In the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1it say, “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted, A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up, A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away, A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak, A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” Everything has its appointed time to be fulfilled because of this we sometime feel that God did not answer our prayer. It’s important that we stay surrounded by with people, places and thing that are speak the word of God continually. The more we hear, sees, and say and the word of God the more it begins to transform our minds causing us to walk in the truth we hear, see and say. Then we will walk in a peace and assurance that God is working all things out for our good. We must be confident that what we believe God for will come to pass.
Once you have planted the seed of the word you need to wait for the manifestation or fruit of that word. Though we pray and ask God to move on the behalf of others and even ourselves; we must remember that everything has an appointed time. Do you know that not Jesus could come before His appointed time? Let’s look at what Galatians 4:4-5 - So is it with us: while we were “children” we lived under the authority of basic moral principles. But when the proper time came God sent his son, born of a human mother and born under the jurisdiction of the Law, that he might redeem those who were under the authority of the Law and lead us into becoming, by adoption, true sons of God. So is it with us: while we were “children” we lived under the authority of basic moral principles. But when the proper time came God sent his son, born of a human mother and born under the jurisdiction of the Law, that he might redeem those who were under the authority of the Law and lead us into becoming, by adoption, true sons of God.” You see God had already set a time for Christ, to be born into this world; therefore, it’s always important for us to pray the will of the Father. Knowing that nothing we ask Him for is a surprise to Him and He already has plans to give it to us at an appointed time. This will help us to not become discourage when it doesn’t happen instantaneously. “Yes, but I’ve been waiting twenty years…well we waited for Christ four hundred years for Christ to be born, so what’s twenty years in comparison to four hundred?
Keep in mind that our, “faith is the substance, of things hoped for ; the evidence of things not yet seen.” Living in the reality of our faith, means understanding the faith we have in God, that we’re certain of what we believe, even though we cannot see it. We can’t afford to listen to anyone or anything, which speaks contrary to what the word says and what we believe for. Let’s look at how Jesus handled this situation in His life. “From that time on, Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law. And that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “this shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.
Although people can be well meaning, they may not know and understand the plans and purpose of God for your life. Peter loved Jesus and did not want to believe that anything bad like that could happen to Him. However, Peter was not seeing the plan of God to redeem mankind. He only saw his desire to keep Jesus with him and the other disciples. Remember Satan is the voice, that comes to contradicts the voice or words of God, that we speaking and hearing. We must continue to speak faith and the goodness of God, “call that He has done and is doing and will do. Remind yourself that our God will fulfill His promises and will cause those things, which are not as though they were.” (Romans 4:17)
My Prayer: today Father we thank you for you word which is alive and has the power to transform our thinking and our lives. Thank you for Your Son Jesus the word fulfilled. Father as we learn to “live in the Reality of our faith and prayers, give us a deeper revelation into you words of faith. We understand that not everyone will believe your word, but in order to receive the things we ask for we must not allow anything or anybody to contradict what Your words says to us, about us and for us. We understand that man does not always look to the things of the Father; therefore we will not allow their words to sway us from believing You will do what you promised. We will cultivate our God like Faith, during our prayer time and throughout the day. We will be like that tree planted by the streams of water (word) and we will bring forth our fruit in its season. We will make sure we drink in plenty of the water of the word that we can be nourishment for others we encounter that are hungry. Father God bring us to maturity in your word, You word is truth! Thank you Father for all your many blessings in Jesus’ name Amen!
Have A Bless Day…go in God’s Peace!
