#32“Intercessors: Stair Steps to Prayer”

“Jesus said, when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to
your father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who is sees what is done
in secret, will reward you, openly"
(John 5:16-17)
J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)

I have noticed that so many Christians are more comfortable with praying in a group than doing so alone, why? Because, when praying in a group they don’t have to take responsibility for praying as they would when praying alone. As a result they may not pray unless they are in corporate prayer. There is nothing wrong with praying corporately however it should not become a replacement for personal devotions and prayer before the Lord. Why? It is when we spend time with the Father that we become familiar with who He is, the sound of His voice and the desires of His heart. When we pray corporately there is no personal intimacy with the Lord. This is why we must spend time with the Father alone, it helps to drown out all other voices, allowing us to hear His alone.

Over the past weeks we have covered various aspects of what is required to get into God presence. Keep in mind that this is a process and we get better with repartition, remember what the piano teacher use to say, “Practice makes Perfect,” well daily devotion, meditation and prayer is the essence of Practicing to become Perfect. It may require you to take a systematic approach to your daily pray time. Once you learn the steps you will simple follow these steps and it will make it easier for you to pray regularly.

The first thing you most remember is to come before the Lord in silence. This is probably one of the most difficult things we have to do because we are not accustomed to sitting for any length of time in silence. Please be prepared to be bombarded with thoughts and plan you need to do or have not done. Why? Because we just are not creatures designed to sit in silence; therefore this in essence has to become a discipline just like the discipline of Prayer. It is important that we learn to sit still in the Lords presence just as we must learn how to worship and praise Him.

In Matthew 6:6 Jesus said, “when you pray go into your prayer room and close the door.” That means turn off the phones radio, computer or anything that could disrupt the setting of the room. Gather your thoughts your attention, your concentration and you focus, pull your whole being into one accord, then you are ready to the next step, which we will cover tomorrow, see you then.

My prayer: Father, teach us to wait before you in the silences, shutting out all of the noise and confusion of life. Teach us to quite our thoughts our hearts and fears. As we prepare ourselves to enter you throne room we want our hearts on one accord with yours. In Jesus name we pray Amen!

Have A Bless Day…go in God’s Peace!
