#41 “Step 10: Now Believe!”
“Have faith in god,” Jesus answered. “I
tell you the truth,
if anyone says to this mountain, “Go,
throw yourself into the sea,”
and does not doubt in his heart but
believes that what he says will happen,
it will be done for him. Therefore I tell
you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe…”
Mark 11: 22-24
New
King James Version (NKJMV)
Many
find it difficult to pray through step #10 simply because of one word, “BELIEVE.” Just as in the parable of the unjust judge,
it wasn’t enough that she asked for what she wanted; she had to believe that he
was able to give her what she asked. This is why we are to “Ask” but more importantly “Believe”
that we will receive. As in our opening
scripture, when you believe what you say, according to the word then you have
what you say. But you must say what God
says about it!!
I
remember when the body was going through the, “Name it and Claim it” phase. The
interesting thing is that this should have never been a phase, but a life
style. Since when does the body of Christ, survive on cliché’s? What are you
naming and claiming? Did God name it first, because if not then why are you
naming it? We have got to come into alignment
with the word of God and the plan and purposes of God. It is then and only then
well we “have
what so ever we say.”
When
asking God for anything we must believe the very moment we utter the prayer,
not after the prayer. In fact you should already be fully persuaded that God is
and will give you what you pray even before you ask. If not that would be like
jumping off a diving board into a pool and deciding after you jump off that you
can swim. Wouldn’t you say that this is a little too late? Neither should you
wait until you have already asked, God for something to decide that you believe
He will give it to you.
Do
you remember what happen with Daniel when he prayed after reading the judgment
God had pronounced over the nation of Israel? The angel told him, “Do not be afraid,
Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before
your God, your words were heard,” Therefore from the
very moment you think to ask God for something He has already answered Your
prayer. This is why you must believe before you ask God, because then you can “Ask
in Faith” for what you want. When you start your prayer request in faith you
can end up in faith no matter how long it seems to take. You faith makes you
determined to see the matter through to the end!
Daniel’s
response to what he read indicated that he believed that God was going to do
just what He had said. It didn’t matter how much time had lapsed. What about
you? What was the last prayer you prayed? Did you believe that God would do it
before you asked or afterwards? Whether you know it or not you believed before
you asked; because if you didn’t you would not have asked. So now that you have
asked for it you must continue to believe that your will receive it. Try doing
this little exercise start saying our loud, “LORD I BELIEVE…” Tell yourself that everyday several times a
day until you see the thing which you prayed for.
Do
you remember the story of the man that had the son who was demon-possessed? What
did he say to the Lord, “Lord I believe; help my unbelief?” (Mark 9:24) “if any of you
lacks wisdom, he should ask god, who gives generously to all without finding
fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not
doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the
wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord.” (James 1:5-7)
My
Prayer: Father, we thank you that when we pray you hear us and will answer your
prayers. We will come to you believing that we have what we have even before we
ask, knowing that you honor our faith. We know that it is our faith which will make
us whole and give us what we desire. As we speak your word we are confident
that whatever you have spoke you will make it good. Thank you for increasing
our faith through your word. In Jesus name we pray Amem!
