#42 “Step #11: Giving God Thanks!”

“Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may
be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of
God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus
[the Revealer and Mediator of that will].”
1 Thessalonians 5: 18

Now that we have talked about what it means to believe, we should find it easier to stand in faith for what we believe God for. Keep in mind that no matter what happens after you leave the presence of God, “DON’T SPOT BELIEVING,” this takes us into or next step #10 Giving God Thanks.”

Once you have established your faith then start to give God thanksgiving and praise.  I know that we have already given Him thanksgiving but this is different for the first, let’s see why? As you may have ascertained by now we are making a noticeable progression in our prayer.  In our first level of thanksgiving we were expressing how much we appreciate the Lord of His forgiveness and His mercy. However the second level of thanksgiving is a much higher kind or faith.  This is where you begin to thank Go for that which is not yet manifested; but you believe you already posses it. Why? Because you know that when you prayed according to God’s word, He hears you and you have whatever you say.

For some reason many of us do not show our appreciation to God when He says He will do something on our behalf.  What if someone told you they were going to give you $2000.00 and it will be deposited into your account, within the hour. Would you just walk away and go home? Or would you thank the person shake their hand or give them a big hug (if they are a close friend or family member). You would thank them, because of your gratitude towards them for helping you. So why would we not do the same to God when we pray knowing that He has promised to answer our prayer?   If you truly believe that God has heard and answered your pray then tell Him so, keep in mind that by doing this not just once but every time you think of that thing you are waiting for, thank God again. You attitude of thanks giving is an indication that you believe that want you want is on its way. So get in the habit of concluding your prayer time with thanksgiving.  Because what you desire when you pray, you believed and now you shall receive!

This reminds me of a time when I had prayed and ask God to bring my son home for prison. It was in 2004 and I was just turning fifty years old. I remember getting up early one morning which was my usual custom; however this particular morning I went in and turned on the TV which I normally never did.  There was a minister on teaching on “The Year of Jubilee.” Now I know that this was referring to “Pentecost” and Pentecost meant “50” as I listened, the Holy Spirit began to speak to my spirit, “Mardina, you know that you will be turning fifty in a few weeks, this will be you “Years of Jubilee”!  He continued to say that, “during your years of Jubilee are going to return to me all that was lost, stolen and even given away by me.  The minister was saying that in the year of Jubilee everything had to be returned to its rightful owner.  He said even your children that are far away from home, even those locked up in prison would be returned to you. Needless to say I began to rejoice because I had given up nearly everything to follow the Lord’s calling upon my life. I had lost my Husband, my oldest son was incarcerated and my daughter was in an abusive marriage and need to be set free. I immediately began to thank and worship God for His promise.

Some weeks later I stepped outside my front door to let my dog out and there arching over my driveway was the biggest rainbow I’d ever seen. It laterally look as though it was in my front yard, reaching to the edge of my driveway.  I went back inside to get my camera, and head out to the edge of my driveway to see if in fact it did end there. While walk the sprite of the Lord began speaking to me.  He said Mardina do you see this rainbow? I made a promise to this earth hundreds of years ago and I’m still keeping it.  He said, “I’ve made you some promises and I will keep them too. I will bring your children back and I will restore what the enemy has stolen.  When I came to myself I was standing in the middle of the driveway crying and worshiping God for His goodness. Well that was in 2005, but today my daughter has been delivered form that abusive husband. And my son is home for prison after being incarcerated for nearly fifteen years. God is a Promise Keeper!

My Prayer: Father God, how can I say thank you for what you have done for me and what you are still doing? Thank you for restoring the years that the locust had stolen and the years that the palmer worm had eaten. Thank you for restoring my daughter to soundness and releasing my son for prison. If I thanked you for the rest of my day, which I no doubt will, it would still not show my gratitude. You are an awesome God and a Holy and Faithful Creator. As You continue to teach us on how to pray give us the opportunity to share with others all that we are learning. We will always give you the praise, in Jesus’ name Amen!!!

Have A Bless Day…Go in God’s Peace!
